It's a love story. It’s dance that is huge with visceral radiance and intricate with character-driven specificity. It’s also a slideshow. (i’ve never been good at) ARRANGING FLOWERS is a tragedy and a half-smile. It’s a movie you’d see on a date, but not a first date. It’s a glamorous woman wearing red and singing in German. It’s a collage of objects, images and gestures recovered from the oblivion of war.
(i've never been good at) ARRANGING FLOWERS is an evening length multi-media contemporary dance work for one dancer. This love story lives in the emotional landscape space where three women intersect: Kate’s obsession with Audrey, Audrey’s mourning of Catherine’s death, Kate’s confusion between her own identity and her desire to be Catherine, -- a woman who died more than 60 years ago. Over the course of the evening, pieces of the story are revealed as though a magnifying glass has been placed over particular coordinates on a map. This love story is not linear, but comes together in circles and cross-reference points.
